Magic Kingdom charging stations to be discontinued September 13th

This week, the pilot enabling Guests to charge mobile phones in lockers in the Magic Kingdom will come to an end. The lockers will no longer be available starting Saturday, September 13th.

Guests looking to charge mobile devices can find outlets in the Tomorrowland Arcade and the FastPass+ kiosk location in Storybook Circus. USB ports are also available in Fantasyland. Charging outlets are located in the ‘stumps’ at either end of the bench seating areas near Rapunzel’s village.

In addition to the aforementioned charging locations, portable chargers are sold in select merchandise locations in the Magic Kingdom.

Personally, I use a portable charger, but these lockers have proven to be very popular throughout this test. Will you miss the lockers?

    1. I say remove all chargers and block wireless signals at the Parks. How much magic are people missing staring down at their phones instead of taking in all that Disney has to offer?

      • I have to disagree with that thinking. First of all, if someone wants to ruin his/her trip, that’s their business. But, more importantly, I was one of those people staring constantly at my phone when we were there. Why? I was using the My Disney Experience app. FastPasses, Wait Times, Menus… those make the trip better, not worse.

Point is, there are plenty of good reasons to have the phone out in the parks. And, again, if someone wants to waste time with something not park related… that’s their loss. I don’t think there’s any reason Disney should feel a need to stop them.

        • OK maybe I’m being a little extreme with the signal blocking lol.
My point is to just enjoy Disney and experience it to the fullest. Disney Parks were made to transport us to a wonderful place and leave our cares, worries and texting / online social life at the gates.

          • OK… so this time, I have to agree with that thinking. 🙂

As I said before, people are free to do whatever they want. Why they would so urgently need to check in with Twitter or play Bubble Witch when they’re standing in the middle of the Magic Kingdom is beyond me.

            • Some people must run their business 24/7 and don’t have the luxury of taking vacation days. A phone is a way to spend time with family and keep tabs on the business too. Been there done that.
