The Boardwalk surrey bikes have always been something on our bucket list and with a free afternoon recently, we decided to finally give them a try. Here are the details and our thoughts.
The rental area is located near the Boardwalk courtyard.
The cost is $25 for 30 minutes, regardless of bike rental type. You can rent either a single or double row bike, fitting two to six adults. Each seat has a set of pedals and one person is designated as the driver.
The desk is staffed from 8:30am to 10pm, weather permitting and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are available.
The route that you’re allowed to take is one way, counter-clockwise, around Crescent Lake.
So what did we think? For $25 it’s a fun way to kill 30 minutes while enjoying a wonderfully scenic resort area. It’s probably worth noting that there are two uphill portions that are unavoidable and proved to be moderately difficult to traverse on our first lap. Subsequent laps made these hills exponentially more difficult to navigate, but not impossible. Other than those two sections, the rest of the route is generally flat and leisurely.
We made our trip around Crescent Lake around 7:15pm which was a relatively busy time. We had to navigate around some diners, magician acts, and variety shows. If I were to do it again, I would make sure I do it in some of the cooler months of the year and at odd times of day to avoid crowds.
