Scott Trowbridge, lead Imagineer on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge project, was on hand last night at the Galactic Nights special ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and shared a few more details on the new land.
While talking about placemaking and creating authentic experiences, he highlighted the Millennium Falcon as an example. “We’ve all seen her on screen, but until you climb through that hatch, walk through her hallways, sit inside the cockpit, power her up and actually FLY her yourself, it’s not quite the same. Here is a photo of the inside of the ship as we are getting her ready and I can’t wait for you to see her yourself!”
The team is even building a fleet of full size X-Wing fighters!
Finally, he announced a new area in Batuu (the planet you visit while experiencing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge). A toy store will be part of the outer rim planet, of course. All of the offerings will have a hand-crafted look as one might expect from the local artisans occupying the marketplace.
If you want to hear more from Scott Trowbridge and other Imagineers and Lucasfilm members, we have a talk from back at Star Wars Celebration where they do a deep dive on some of the elements not touched on during the Galactic Nights panel last night.
