Disney Reverses Decision on Rafiki’s Planet Watch; Will Reopen Spring 2019

In an odd reversal, Disney has announced that they have decided to reopen Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Spring 2019. We broke the news over a week ago that Disney was set to close the location forever in October 2018 and Disney later confirmed the decision to media.

After confirming the permanent closure to media, Disney then reversed the decision late last week, stating that they “anticipate reopening Rafiki’s Planet Watch and Wildlife Express for Guests in Spring 2019, with more details to come”. Disney stating that there are “more details to come” hints to the possibility that Rafiki’s Planet Watch, as we know it, won’t return. It’s possible that we could see a light retheme of the area when it opens in Spring 2019, but Disney hasn’t confirmed such a retheme yet. We’ll be sure to bring you more details as they become available.
