According to Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Disney plans on releasing two more Zootopia films. Lister was at meet and greet at Dave and Busters last Sunday when out of the middle of nowhere, he dropped the news that not only is he working with Disney on a second Zootopia film, but that there will be three Zootopia films in total!

Lister, who plays Finnick in the film, said the following about the future of the franchise.

I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We doing three of them… We the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was 240 million. This one I’m hearing will be 300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising.

There have been rumblings about a second film for a while now, but getting to hear it straight from a voice actor working on the film is about as close to confirmation at this point that we can get. Zootopia crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office and has been a huge hit for Disney. Zootopia has pulled in the following awards for Disney:

• Oscar – Best Animated Feature Film of the Year
• Golden Globe – Best Motion Picture – Animated
• BAFTA – Best Feature Film
• AFI – Movie of the Year

Disney’s investment in Zootopia doesn’t stop at the box office though. The media giant also just announced that they will be bringing the first-ever Zootopia-themed land to Shanghai Disneyland.

The new land will feature a new major attraction that seamlessly blends Disney’s storytelling and state-of-the-art technologies in order to bring this fan favorite movie and its characters to life. The new themed land will also invite guests to fully immerse themselves in the mammalian metropolis of Zootopia, “where anyone can be anything,” and come along on an adventure with Judy and Nick, the lead characters from the movie.

Construction on the Zootopia-themed land is set to begin later this year.
