May 12th Weekly Recap (Huge Disney Skyliner Milestones, Wi-Fi Coming to Disney Buses, Tokyo Groundbreaking, Leaked Blueprints, and More)

    Here’s our Walt Disney World weekly recap for the week ending May 12th. From Disney Skyliner milestones to leaked blueprints, Tokyo DisneySea Expansions to Tron construction, it’s been another busy week in Disney Parks news! Here are your can’t miss stories.

    Disney Skyliner Milestones

    The Disney Skyliner gondola system has hit a few construction milestones this week. After we brought you a first look at the first-ever unwrapped character gondola, Disney decided to unwrap all of the gondolas on the Hollywood Studios line. We were on hand to bring you a look at all of the themes!

    Two other milestones were hit when Disney began testing on the Epcot to Riviera line and on the Riviera to Caribbean Beach line. All lines are now testing!

    News from the Edge of the Galaxy

    News continues to be put out by Disney about the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land coming to Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. From new looks inside the land to a full menu lineup of the restaurants and dining locations within the land, the hype for Batuu continues to build!

    Staying Connected on the Go!

    This one is still in the rumor category…for now. Our sources have indicated to us that Disney will be rolling out Wi-Fi on their resort buses in the coming weeks and months. Check out our story for more.

    Sneak Peeks

    A pair of blueprints reportedly leaked last week. Both the recently delayed Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and a Spider-Man attraction had their blueprints leak last week.     Massive Tokyo DisneySea Expansion

    As part of an investor call, Disney CEO Bob Iger noted that they would be breaking ground for the massive Tokyo DisneySea expansion this month!

    Tron Goes Vertical

    The Tron roller coaster is going up quickly next to Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom. We took detailed photos of the construction, watching as crews installed the tallest roller coaster support column to date.

    Fort Wilderness Loses Some of the Wilderness

    Fort Wilderness is about to be impacted in a major way as part of the Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge DVC hotel. From the demolition of Mickey and Minnie’s Backyard BBQ to the loss of the current Tri-Circle-D Ranch at The Settlement, there is a lot of work coming to the woods of Fort Wilderness. Here is a look at the permits that outline the scope of the work, as well as a walk around The Settlement to take a look at how things stand currently.
