PizzeRizzo is back open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Located in Grand Park near MuppetVision 3D, PizzeRizzo is a quick service dining location that serves, you guessed it, pizza. We return to PizzeRizzo today to see what, if anything, has changed since it went seasonal last year.
First, let’s start with a bit of BREAKING NEWS on the PizzeRizzo front. It will be open now “permanently”. Here’s the planned schedule through the rest of the year:
- Tomorrow (May 5th) through May 24th, PizzeRizzo will be open for lunch and dinner while ABC Commissary is closed for refurbishment
- Starting May 25th, PizzeRizzo will be open for lunch only all Summer until August 29th
- Beginning August 29th and running “forever”, PizzeRizzo will be open for lunch and dinner again as a way to handle the influx of guests visiting Hollywood Studios for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
A brief look around reveals that nothing has changed, thematically.
As far as new menu items are concerned, there is only a single dessert. We’ll get to that in a moment, but first, let’s check back in with the star of the show – the pizza.
Meat Lover’s Pizza – $10.99
Topped with Sausage and Pepperoni served with a small Caesar Salad.
We return to the most robust meat offering at PizzeRizzo, the Meat Lover’s Pizza. Much has been said about PizzeRizzo pizza, but we actually fall into the camp of enjoying them. Our pizza was served hot with a nicely cooked crust that had a nice crunch. Both the sausage and pepperoni were enjoyable. A generous layer of marinara sat beneath a nicely baked layer of cheese. PizzeRizzo pizza isn’t putting Blaze Pizza out of business, but it’s a serviceable personal size pizza. If you’re looking for something quick to eat while you’re stuck outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this fall, we can recommend the Meat Lover’s pizza.
Vegetable Pizza – $10.49
Topped with Mushrooms, Peppers, Onions and Tomatoes served with a small Caesar Salad.
Next up is the Vegetable Pizza. We didn’t review this last time around, but we decided to take the plunge and see how well or poorly PizzeRizzo can make a Vegetable Pizza.
The veggies here, while not overly abundant, we’re flavorful. We were told that the veggies here are delivered refrigerated, just like any table service or quick service around property. That said, they tasted quite fresh to us and the pizza as a whole, just like the Meat Lover’s, was enjoyable.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Verrine – $4.99
Layers of Homemade Peanut Butter Cream and Grape Jelly Garnished with Chopped Peanut Butter Candies served in a Verrine Cup.
Verrine is all the rage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios nowadays. With a verrine available at Backlot Express as of earlier this year.
As you can see below, the emphasis is certainly on the peanut butter as far as ratio delivered of each ingredient. That peanut butter heavy ratio transfers to the flavor as well, with the jelly only having minimal input to the texture and flavor profile of the dessert. The peanut butter is a nearly spot on taste for a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, which makes this an enjoyable dish.
PizzeRizzo has a big part to play in the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Located next to the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on Grand Avenue, the location will feed a lot of guests. For what it is, we think the vast majority of guests will enjoy their meal here as they go about their day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
