Disney has recently filed a patent that will allow for an upgraded character helmet. The patent describes a system that would allow the wearer to see through the “eyes” of the character helmet without obstruction. To an outside observer the eyes would be opaque with color or light. The patent drawings show a helmet similar to that of the Black Panther Marvel character.
The most obvious implementation of this patent that we can think of would be in an Iron Man meet and greet where the eyes of the helmet are illuminated like in the movies.
Traditionally, character masks and helmets have always had a nearly hidden viewport for the wearers, but this patent would allow for a more natural view for the character performer inside.
