The Oriental Land Company has announced an opening date for their version of Soarin’, called Soaring: Fantastic Flight. The attraction will open on July 23, 2019 and feature “new scenes and visuals” that are exclusive to Tokyo DisneySea. Soaring: Fantastic Flight will be located in Mediterranean Harbor, to the right as you enter the park.
In addition to an opening date, the backstory for the attraction was released as well. Here’s the backstory:
Nestled in the hills of Mediterranean Harbor, amidst the backdrop of an old-world Italian village, the Museum of Fantastic Flight is dedicated to humankind’s enduring dream of flying. Today, the museum celebrates Camellia Falco—a visionary innovator in the fledgling field of aviation—with a special retrospective of her life.
A grand tour of the museum includes a magical visit from the spirit of Camellia and culminates with Guests boarding her latest and greatest achievement—a flying vehicle of her own design called the Dream Flyer. Guests soon experience what Camellia believed, that our imagination can propel us into the future and take us everywhere in the world we wish to go. And before Guests know it, their spirits are sent soaring.
Eagle-eyed guests who have visited the Tropical Hideaway may have noticed the oar of S.E.A. explorer “C. Falco”. At the time, it wasn’t known who this person was, or what their link was to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. Thanks to the backstory of Soaring: Fantastic Flight, we know know who C. Falco is!
