We made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios earlier today to take a look at the changes on Grand Avenue ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While visiting, we couldn’t help but to notice a flurry of activity all over the expansion to the new bag check area.

If you haven’t seen it yet, this post takes a look at the portion of the bag check area that is currently open. It opened on the same day that the parking lot tram drop/pick up area opened.

For today’s post, we’re going to focus on the area to the right of the below photo, as well as the area immediately behind it as guests walk up to the main entrance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

If you’re arriving by Friendship boat, you’ll notice that the bag check area doesn’t extend all the way to the end of the walkway. That said, you’ll likely still have to walk through bag check upon arrival to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as there is no bag check at the Friendship dock.

Here’s a closer look at the end of the bag check area that crews are working hard to finish.

Here’s a better look at the face of the new construction. This section of bag check will likely serve the Friendship and Disney Skyliner guests.

Making our way through bag check, we can see that Disney is crafting a large, spacious area between bag check and the ticket windows/main entrance.

Here’s a reverse view, looking back at the new bag check construction from near the ticket windows. It’s easy to see what portion has been opened and what still sits behind construction walls based on the paint finish.

During the construction, the ticket windows have always remained unaffected.

With Cast Member previews of the new land set to take place next week, and Annual Passholder previews after that, Disney is slowly ramping up the demand on the Hollywood Studios infrastructure. With the expansion of bag check and the parking lot as a whole, the arrival experience should be ready to handle the masses.
