Disney seems to be moving at a good pace on the construction related to the pathway that will eventually connect Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort (and the Polynesian and TTC beyond that) to the front entrance of Magic Kingdom. If you missed the news, Disney will finally be completing the long-promised walkway from the Ticket & Transportation Center to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom. Most of the walkway has already been built as a series of connecting pathways from the Ticket & Transportation Center to the Disney’s Polynesian Resort, and on to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. As outlined in permits, Disney will be constructing two bridges to complete the connection.

We made it out to Magic Kingdom today to take a loop around the Resort Monorail line to bring you an updated look at the construction.

We’ll actually start with two different views that will hopefully provide some scale and context to the work. Our first view is from near the new Magic Kingdom bag check tent. From here, we can see how large the crane is that will be used to support the project.

Our next shot comes from the monorail, over the convention center at The Contemporary. This provides a bit of a better scale as it relates to the proximity of the work to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

As you can see in the photos below, Disney is working on building a water barrier for the bridge. As outlined in the permits, Disney intends to install a swing bridge at this location. Because it’s used nighty by the Electrical Water Pageant, this is an active canal that can’t use a static bridge.

While the pathway hasn’t been open on the Magic Kingdom side of the canal for some time now, it does exist and is ready for guests. Of course, we anticipate seeing the removal of the walk around the world bricks as announced by Disney earlier this year.
