Construction Walls Removed to Reveal Lightly Themed Overflow Queue for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Construction walls have been removed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to reveal a lightly themed overflow queue for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Slated for opening in Spring 2020, work on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has largely taken place in the seclusion of the Chinese Theater. The queue, which we believe will be an overflow queue and hopefully not the main entrance, will feature a series of switchbacks in open air. When we visited, Imagineers were on site talking about, you guessed it, umbrella spacing.

The nature of an open air queue in Florida is less than ideal, and after making guests stand under the hot Central Florida sun in Toy Story Land, Imagineering will certainly be looking to shade the area. We’ve seen a swarm of umbrellas added to various spots around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so that seems to be the solution of choice instead of permanent structures to provide shade. Here’s a look around the area, including some themed lamp posts.

The ground is marked for more queue stanchion holes to be drilled out.

Other parts of the outdoor queue remain unchanged.
