Stone Removal Begins on Iconic Entrance Fountain at Epcot

Well, it looks like Disney is wasting no time on the entrance overhaul project as it relates to the entrance fountain. We first spotted that walls had been extended to include the fountain as part of the Leave a Legacy monolith demolition last week, but now work has begun to transform the fountain back to a familiar look.

First, here’s a look at the concept art that shows the transformation of the fountain into a look that will pay homage to the Epcot of decades past.

We’ll start with a look at the Leave a Legacy monolith demolition. As you can see, some of the monoliths have been removed and there’s even some pathway work going on, as seen in the bottom right of the first photo.

It’s at this point that we see the fountain come into view and see the removal of more than half of the stone tiles that use to sit atop the fountain.

Here’s a look at the fountain as it sits today, with a good portion of the stone tiles removed.
