The Tower of Terror refurbishment is nearly finished at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you weren’t aware, Disney has been closing half of the ride at a time to allow for maintenance on the drop shafts and more this summer. The work has led to higher than average wait times and a lower than usual allotment of FastPass+ distributions. The refurbishment doesn’t include and changes to the ride itself beyond mechanical work.
According to Cast Members, work is scheduled to be completed on August 9th or a few days after. Because work on the drop shaft doesn’t completely close the ride, Disney has been a little bit more lenient with their end date for the work. The ride had temporarily opened fully a few days ago before maintenance decided that they needed to go back and do a bit more work on the left drop shaft. We made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today to find that the left drop shaft was indeed being worked on and noticed that the doors were open this morning.
The work wraps up well ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on August 29th.
