Temporary Tram Drop Off Now in Use Due to Entrance Overhaul Project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A new, temporary tram lane is now in use at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as the next phase of the entrance overhaul project commences. As part of the work, the current tram lane will be moved further away from the entrance as the bag check area is expanded. For a full breakdown of the project, check out our post from back in February when the permit was filed.

Here’s a look at the modified parking lot tram drop off area, which is now further away than the handicap parking. We’ll start at the new tram drop off area and make our way towards the park entrance.

As you can see in the photos below, the parking lot tram now makes a u-turn well before the old drop off area.

Here’s a look at where the tram makes a u-turn now.

Making our way towards the front of the park, we see nothing but construction walls. Just like Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios before it, Animal Kingdom will be a bit of a rough experience between your car and the front gate for the foreseeable future.

There is a guest walkway of sorts that connects the two sides of the construction. In theory, you won’t need to use this if you stick to the east side of the construction walls (the side where the handicap lot is).

On the west side of the construction, Disney hasn’t secured the construction zone with walls or cones yet, just simply a sign telling guests that they can’t walk in the tram lane.

As we continue to walk in from the east side of the construction, we will soon be surrounded by construction walls as two projects take place on either side of the walkway.

To the left of the image above is the old tram drop off area, and to the right is a new structure.

As we get closer to the park entrance, we see more signage to help guests when they need to return to their car at the end of their visit.

Below is the now closed pathway that use to take you to the old tram drop off point.
