Disney has just revealed some of the one-of-a-kind artwork that guests will find in their rooms, and around Disney’s Riviera Resort.
The art and décor at Disney’s Riviera Resort will reflect a European theme with a Disney twist. The one-of-a-kind art collection, comprised of more than 40 original pieces, is no exception.
Drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean region’s art history, the collection celebrates a unique blend of Disney characters and icons, European storytelling, and the fine art stylings of master artists who found inspiration along the Riviera during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Enjoy this up close reveal of these signature pieces created exclusively for the resort:
“Still Life with Teapot” – Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip and Cogsworth from “Beauty and the Beast” (1991)
During the early-20th-century, artists along the Riviera were exploring ways to make still life objects come to life on a flat canvas. Artists would first break the objects into individual shapes and forms, then accentuate each object with strong outlines.
Inspired by the cubist style of art, Disney artists painted the enchanted objects from “Beauty and the Beast” (1991) – Cogsworth, Lumiere, Chip and Mrs. Potts – as they appear to come to life on the canvas.
“Girl with Lanterns” – Panel showcasing Rapunzel from “Tangled” (2010)
The dramatic hues of sunset inspired Disney artists in painting Rapunzel and Pascal as they watch the glowing lanterns illuminate the evening sky, creating a delightful pattern of shape and color.
“The Seaside Nap” – Mickey Mouse and Pluto
Harkening back to Disney’s cartoon origins, this coastal Riviera scene is styled to reflect the vintage characteristics of early black and white cartoon art.
Disney’s Riviera Resort will be the newest Walt Disney World resort and Disney Vacation Club property. Inspired by Europe and imagined by Disney, the resort is under construction and projected to open Dec. 16, 2019. Bookings for Disney’s Riviera Resort are open now.
