New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct on Twitter reveal the current state of the Fountain of Nations demolition at Epcot. While we first showed you the demolition of the Fountain of Nations a week ago, the best look we’ve seen of the scope of the project comes from the air! Here’s a look at the current state of not only the Fountain of Nations demolition, but also the “central spine” portion of the expansive Epcot overhaul project.
We’ll start with a wide photo first, showing the entire project area. As you can see, the Fountain of Nations is completely behind walls. The southwest portion of the central spine is now closed, as shown in the updated park map.
A closer look at the demolition shows that about half of the Fountain of Nations has been turned to rubble, with the other half set to be demolished in the next week or so.
So, what will be replacing the Fountain of Nations? According to concept art, the World Celebration Festival Center will be going in this area as well as a portions of the nearby Innoventions West structure. For everything we know so far about the World Celebration Festival Center, check out our overview post.
As always, we’d like to thank our friend @bioreconstruct for the photos and encourage you to give him a follow on Twitter! For the latest on the Epcot overhaul project and much more from around the Disney Parks, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com.
