Welcome to a 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival review! Epcot’s biggest festival of the year is upon us and that means that it’s time to eat and drink our way around World Showcase. The 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival runs from August 29 – November 23, 2019 and doesn’t cost extra to attend (food and drink are an additional cost). Scattered throughout Epcot are “Global Marketplaces”, which showcase culinary delights according to a specific theme. Global Marketplaces open at 11am unless otherwise noted. Build-Your-Own Layered Slushy – $6.00

Choose from Coke, Fanta Cherry, Fanta Orange, Fanta Banana, Fanta Watermelon and Blue Raspberry – all frozen! In addition, you can even choose to top your slushy with candy pebbles, popping pearls, jelly drops, or popping candy. 

There really isn’t a lot to say here besides if you’re looking for a sugar rush, you’ve come to the right place. There are enough unique flavors to make this a “something for everyone” type of experience. There really isn’t a limit here, which makes it an extremely fun stop for the young and young-at-heart.

We asked for “the most colorful concoction you can make”, which translated to a Fanta Orange and Blue Raspberry base combined with every single topping.

To say that it tasted “exactly like it looks” might be an odd way to describe something, but this was essentially a colorful, flavorful, sugary drink that paired nicely with the new, colorful accent colors at The Epcot Experience. Overall, if this is something that you’ve been wanting to try, we say go for it! At $6, it’s a decent value and probably the most fun “food” item at the entire festival. We hope this sticks around past the November 23rd end date for the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

Coca-Cola Orange Vanilla with St. Petersburg Distillery Gin – $13.50

Orange Vanilla and gin. We’ll start by saying this: it’s not for everyone! That said, we’re actually fans of gin and this struck the right balance between a solid pour of gin and orange vanilla. It comes with a 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine festival souvenir (plastic) cup included with the price.

If the adult in your group scoffs at the thought of creating their own non-alcoholic slushy, this is a wonderful drink to get them to visit Cool Wash anyway. It’s about as “strong” of a drink as you’ll find at the festival and is a pretty good value for money when considering the built-in “food and wine upcharge” that you’ll find at all of the kiosks around World Showcase.

Cool Wash is a surprisingly fun addition to the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival and breathes some life into this corner of the park that might otherwise be overlooked. Our advice? Grab a build-your-own slushy or Orange Vanilla gin and head on over to enjoy your drink during the 12-minute projection mapped show at The Epcot Experience nearby.
