The Oriental Land Company held a groundbreaking ceremony today to mark the start of the construction of the Toy Story Hotel. The ceremony, which is known as Jichinsai, is a way to mark the start of the project as well as a prayer ceremony to bless the construction workers and for the smooth completion of the project, according to Rethink Tokyo.

The Toy Story Hotel, which was announced in November 2018, will feature 600 rooms and is projected to open in 2021.

Toy Story-Inspired Hotel Coming to Tokyo Disney Resort

From the hotel exterior to the spacious gardens, guests will enjoy a world where everything looks like it’s made of toys. The guest rooms are inspired by Andy’s bedroom, including Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends, with colorful furniture and other immersive features inspired by the world of “Toy Story.” The hotel will also include dining and shopping.

This work is in addition to the massive Fantasy Springs project, which broke ground on May 21st of this year.
