During the end of fiscal year earnings call yesterday, Disney gave outlooks at all of their theme parks worldwide. While most things were positive at their theme parks, Disney noted that they have seen significant loss of profit at Hong Kong Disneyland due to the political turmoil taking place in the city nearby.
As far as the numbers are concerned, Disney noted a $55 million loss in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2019, and forecasted a loss of $80 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2020. When looking toward the year ahead, Disney anticipates a loss of $275 million versus fiscal 2019 if the current trends continue.
Hong Kong Disneyland is in the middle of a transformation of the park that will see new rides and even a new castle debut in the coming years.
