New Resort Presidents Arrive at Walt Disney World and Disneyland After Executive Shake-Up

It’s time to get to work for the new theme park resort presidents at the domestic Disney parks. Beginning this month, both Josh D’Amaro and Rebecca Campbell have taken over the helm at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, respectively.

What started as a story about multiple high-level layoffs culminated in a corporate shake-up that saw the departure of Catherine Powell from the company and new presidents at the first and second Disney resorts created by the company.

According to Instagram posts by the new execs, they have arrived and are ready to get to work at their new offices.

Josh D’Amaro is President, Walt Disney World Resort. He is responsible for leading all facets of business for the resort’s four theme parks, two water parks, 28 resort hotels, four golf courses, two full-service spas, an extensive multi-modal transportation system, Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and the Disney Springs entertainment-shopping-dining complex.

Josh leads a cast of more than 75,000—America’s largest single-site workforce—and will lead Walt Disney World on the path to its 50thanniversary, in 2021. In doing so, he will help complete the destination’s most significant expansion in the last two decades, opening the Disney Skyliner aerial transportation system, new lodging experiences, new arrival and nighttime entertainment experiences for the Epcot theme park and new attractions across the resort.

Josh believes that, by being a champion for the resort’s cast members, an active member of the community and an advocate for innovation, Walt Disney World Resort will continue to thrive as a business while delivering the magical guest experiences for which it is known worldwide.

Prior to his return to Walt Disney World, Josh was president of the Disneyland Resort, where he opened the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme-park land, and helped initiate development of an upcoming Marvel-themed land.

Josh began his 21-year Disney career at the Disneyland Resort in 1998 and has held various leadership positions across the company.

He served as senior vice president of Commercial Strategy for Walt Disney World Resort and also led the sites’ Resorts & Transportation Operations.

Josh also served as vice president of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park as it underwent the largest expansion in its history.

His other roles included Adventures by Disney; Sales and Travel Operations at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort; Finance for the Global Licensing division of Disney Consumer Products; and Business Planning and Strategy Development for the Disneyland Resort.

Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University.

Rebecca Campbell – President Disneyland Resort

Rebecca Campbell is the president of the Disneyland Resort, where she oversees a workforce of 31,000 cast members and is responsible for all facets of the business, including oversight of two theme parks – Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, three resort hotels and Downtown Disney.

Rebecca is a 22-year Disney veteran, most recently serving as president of The Walt Disney Company – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Direct-to-Consumer & International segment. Based out of the company’s regional headquarters in London, Rebecca was accountable for Disney’s media, motion pictures, and all other operations across EMEA (excluding Disneyland Paris), including close collaboration with the Consumer Products team. She was responsible for a diverse team of over 5,000 employees operating in 59 markets with offices in 25 countries.

From 2010 through 2017, Rebecca served as president of the ABC Owned Television Station Group, responsible for the company’s eight local TV stations and their digital assets in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno. In addition, Rebecca oversaw ABC National Television sales and ABC Daytime.

In 2007, Rebecca was named president and general manager

WABC-TV – New York, the group’s flagship station in the nation’s largest television market, where she was responsible for WABC-TV and all of its ancillary businesses, including two additional digital platforms, and “Live with Regis and Kelly.”

Rebecca joined The Walt Disney Company in 1997 as vice president of programming at WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2003, she was named president and general manager of 6ABC.

Prior to her Disney tenure, Rebecca held several programming and production positions at various television stations in Allentown and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Throughout her career, Rebecca has received various honors for her leadership and community service, including being named Broadcaster of the Year in 2013 by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, being recognized as the Disney VoluntEAR of the Year in 2015, and receiving the “Excellence in Mentoring” award in 2016 from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.

Rebecca is a magna cum laude graduate of Bloomsburg University with a dual major in journalism and political science.
