Disney has recently closed a real estate transaction with Lake Reedy LLC for about 235 acres of land west of Magic Kingdom. The land, according to the Orange County Property Appraiser, sits on Reedy Lake and is northwest of the Walt Disney World Magnolia golf course, and under 2 miles from Disney’s flagship theme park – Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Compass Rose Corporation purchased the land for $6 million, according to Orange County records. Here’s a look at the plot on the Orange County Property Appraiser website and then a graphic showing the location on Google Earth.
Of course, when looking at a map, a theme park or resort expansion could be the last thing on Disney’s mind with this purchase. The property sits adjacent to Disney’s already sprawling solar farm along State Road 429. It’s possible that Disney is either purchasing this land to expand their solar farm, or perhaps to simply ensure that nobody else builds nearby.
As seen in the property appraiser map at the beginning of this article, there are roughly 230 more acres in the immediate area that Disney doesn’t own.
