We’ve previously detailed the expected massive changes coming to the Epcot guest flow experience in the coming weeks, and one of the projects preventing that becoming a reality sooner is the Future World East pathway widening project. While we saw a section of the pathway open earlier this month, there is still a significant portion behind construction walls as Disney moves to create wider walkways for the influx of guests once more demolition takes place in the “Epcot Spine” area.
Well, we recently hopped on board the Epcot monorail to take a look at the latest progress on the Future World East pathway widening project and found quite a bit of progress.
As you can see in the photos below, the concrete finally connects to the already open section of walkway and the only portion that needs more concrete is the section directly in front of the restrooms, which are also under refurbishment.
Of course, another critical part of the new walkways will be the section that routes past the Guest Relations area and towards Future World East and past the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind construction site.
This pathway looks to be ready, with the exception of the area under Spaceship Earth that is still torn up.
Finally, there is one more element to this construction site that looks to be lagging behind the rest. The area where the new Taste Track Burgers and Fries kiosk still looks to be a mess when we rode on the monorail, but it might not hold up the rest of the pathway widening project as it looks to be far enough away from the actual pathway.
