UPDATE: No Fire at PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom According to Reedy Creek Responders

As you might have seen last night, we reported on the presence of smoke at the Tomorrowland PeopleMover attraction in Magic Kingdom which prompted an evacuation. The smoke seen in the photos was actually from a fire extinguisher that was used on the exit ramp for the ride. It’s unclear what prompted the use of the fire extinguisher, but guests reported smelling a burning rubber just before Cast Members closed the attraction.

According to Reedy Creek spokeswomen Eryka Washington (via the Orlando Sentinel), responders were called to the attraction at 5:24pm and found no fire. They left about 12 minutes after their arrival.

We made it out to Tomorrowland to check on the situation after the responders had left last night and found Cast Members cleaning up the residue from the fire extinguisher on the exit ramp. The Tomorrowland PeopleMover was then opened shortly after 7pm.

There were also no issues reported with the Lunching Pad dining location or Astro Orbiter, although both were evacuated as they share the same structure as the PeopleMover attraction.
