With the abrupt and unexpected suspension of the Disney College Program, there are certainly more questions than answers. In this post, we’ll add one more question to the equation: what about all of the new housing that Disney is building for future College Program participants?
As it turns out, it looks like Disney is moving ahead as planned. American Campus Communities and Walt Disney World Resort have teamed up to provide a new housing development for Cast Members attending the Disney College Program. The $630 million residential community will add 10,400 beds, two 25,000-square-foot community centers, resort-style pools, and more.
Earlier today, we gave you a look at new concept art for the campus housing, and now, we have a look inside some of the accommodations that are expected to open in May 2020.
According to an email sent out to College Program participants, the new Flamingo Crossings Village will have a 24-hour community center, 24-hour fitness center, pools, 24-hour packaging room, computers, gaming area, jumbo screen, and multi-purpose rooms.
Each apartment will have a full-size washer and dryer, spacious kitchen area, a smart TV, and an electronic key system. The cost of the rooms will be anywhere from $165 to $205 per week and accommodate 4 Cast Members in either a 2-bedroom or 4-bedroom setup.
The opening of the new Disney College Program housing is expected to begin in May 2020 and roll out in phases over the next 3 years.
