Aerial Tour of Empty EPCOT (Future World Demolition, France Expansion, and More)

Continuing our coverage of empty Walt Disney World theme parks from the air, our next stop is EPCOT! As you know, all of the Walt Disney World theme parks are now closed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns through the end of the month (at least).

While we aren’t able to report from inside the park, BlogMickey.com will continue to strive to bring you the latest Disney Parks news and photos during the closure of the theme parks, however long that might be. To that end, we took to the skies over Walt Disney World this morning to capture extremely rare aerial photos of empty Walt Disney World theme parks during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) closure.

Today, we’re taking a look at EPCOT, a theme park that is in a state of flux right now as most of Future World sits behind construction walls. Many were wondering if construction crews would be able to ramp up their productivity during the downtime, but Disney has halted construction around the theme parks. All four Walt Disney World theme parks have construction going on that will very likely look the same when we are able to return to the parks as the day that they closed.

Back to EPCOT now, when we flew over EPCOT there was some cloud cover that prevented us from getting a lot of the photos that we wanted to get, but friend of the site @bioreconstruct also flew over the theme parks and got some wonderful photos that we’ll share in this post.

Starting at the front of EPCOT, here’s a look at the largely empty parking lot.

A look at the entrance to the park shows a paused arrival experience project. As you may know, Disney has halted construction during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic closure.

Here’s a look at Spaceship Earth and the Future World demolition project, also halted. Of course, these photos are probably of greater interest from a construction standpoint than from a crowd standpoint.

We’ll head out to World Showcase to round out this photo tour and take a look at some upcoming projects that were slated to open sooner rather than later, but have been delayed.

Shifting our attention to the west side of World Showcase now, we’ll focus in on the France Pavilion expansion and the International Gateway area.
