In a statement to Cast Members recently, Disney said that they have “nothing new to share about a possible extension to the current closures across Walt Disney World Resort”.
This statement comes after orders from Osceola and Orange County were issued asking residents to stay at home unless their work was deemed essential per county guidelines. Of course, the vast majority of Cast Members don’t perform roles that are essential to the continuity of the Walt Disney World Resort during the COVID-19 theme park and hotel closures.
Essential jobs include, but are not limited to Animal Care and Security. Earlier this morning, the vast majority of Cast Members received a blank schedule for the week of March 29th through April 4th.
As of publish time, Disney’s most recent statement to the public says that the Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks and hotels will be closed through March 31st. Other area and nationwide parks and attractions, including Universal Orlando, have issued extensions to their initial closure periods. Disney would be the last major theme park operator to do so.
