How the Cinderella Castle Repainting Will Affect Your Summer Vacation

As you might know by now, Cinderella Castle is in the midst of a “Royal Makeover” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Cinderella.

Many guests are wondering how the repainting will affect their vacations this summer, including photos, entertainment, fireworks, and dining. In this post, we’ll go through each of these concerns to give you a better idea of what to expect when visiting Magic Kingdom this summer.

How Long Will the Cinderella Castle Repainting Last?

Disney hasn’t given an exact date, but they do say that the work will be finished later this summer. Summer officially ends September 22, but we anticipate it’ll be completed before the start of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 13th. There’s no doubt that there is a lot of work to be done, but Disney is moving at a pretty good pace so far.

Will Cinderella Castle Be Covered During the Royal Makeover?

No. Disney has unequivocally stated that Cinderella Castle will not be covered during the Royal Makeover this summer. Magic Kingdom Vice President Jason Kirk had this to say about the Royal Makeover.

While temporary construction equipment may be present while Cinderella Castle received its royal makeover, it will remain uncovered and we will do our best to ensure guests are still able to capture photos and memories in this iconic spot.

Of course, we’ve seen a lot of cranes up around Cinderella Castle recently, but those are easily retracted later in the day for a better photo of the icon of Walt Disney World.

Does the Happily Ever After fireworks show still run?

Yep! Happily Ever After is unaffected by the Cinderella Castle work because of the fact that construction equipment is easily retractable in the evenings.

Are there any impacts to Cinderella Castle stage shows?

Yes, there are some impacts to the Cinderella Castle stage shows. Most notably, the absence of pyrotechnics during the Let the Magic Begin welcome show and Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.

Also, showtimes of Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire have been reduced to afternoon and evenings only due to work on Cinderella Castle. As of right now, showtimes are at 5:15pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm.

Is Cinderella’s Royal Table dining open?

Yes, Cinderella’s Royal Table is open during the Royal Makeover and has no plans to close during the work.

What color will Cinderella Castle be when the work is done?

As seen in the concept art below, Cinderella Castle will have a different hue of pink to it called “Rose Pink”. In addition, the turrets will be a royal blue and gold accents will abound. We actually spotted the first royal blue turret being painted recently!

While we’ll have to wait and see what “Rose Pink” turns out to be, we’ve recently spotted a newly painted area of the castle that could foreshadow the rest of it.
