Walt Disney World Cast Members will be allowed to wear protective masks when reporting for work starting April 7th. While the vast majority of Walt Disney World Cast Members are not working right now, the remaining essential Cast Members still at the parks and resorts will be allowed to bring their own masks to work or wear some provided by Disney. As of publish time, this advisory applies to the period that the parks will be closed to guests. There is no word if Cast Members will be allowed to wear masks when the parks reopen or not.

This move follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation of using a face covering in addition to social distancing to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The CDC says that the virus can spread between people in close proximity and gives the example of coughing, sneezing, or even talking.

As we reported back in late March, a select group of Cast Members such as those in security and Animal Care are still working while maintaining social distancing when at all possible. Cast Members who are able to work from home are being asked to do so.

Starting April 19th, non-Union Disney Cast Members will be furloughed with ongoing negotiations taking place to determine the fate of union-backed Cast Members.
