Disney Springs Remains Closed as Florida Restaurants and Retail Locations Reopen

Today marks the beginning of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Phase 1 reopening of the economy. In this phase, restaurants and retail locations are cleared to reopen at a 25% indoor capacity and social distancing protocols. That said, Disney Springs, Walt Disney World’s premier shopping and dining location, remains closed. This isn’t completely unexpected given a notification to guests who may have opened the My Disney Experience app in the past few days.

This morning, Thomas Mazloum, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts and Transportation Operations, noted that Disney doesn’t have an opening date or timeframe to share with the public. That includes Disney Springs, a location with a multitude of 3rd party restaurants and retail locations, which remains closed today. Entrances to the Lime and Orange garages remain barricaded.

That said, the Grapefruit Garage is now open for Disney Cast Members to park in. It’s unclear what Cast Members might be returning to Disney Springs, but the garage is also used by 3rd party Operating Participants as well.

Temporary signage is in place for deliveries (although the refresh rate of the sign doesn’t lend itself well to photos), and delivery trucks can be seen in the area.
