According to the Walt Disney World website, the 2020 Walt Disney World EGF High School National Championship set to take place June 12-14 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex has been cancelled. The event was scheduled to take place at The Arena, Disney’s newest building at the complex that can hold up to 8,000 spectators.

The 2020 event was scheduled to be the first event in a five-year contract. The event is currently scheduled to return in 2021 to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.

“Esports is the one sport that has continued to permit students to safely play during these challenging times and we appreciate the students flexibility to adapt to playing from home,” said Tyler Schrodt, Founder and President, EGF. “While we’re saddened to not be able to play in person at ESPN Wide World of Sports, we will still compete, broadcast competition and distribute medals and trophies remotely. We look forward to returning for a magical experience in 2021.”
