Disney has made some subtle, but useful changes to the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue features within the My Disney Experience app. Our thanks to @OhMichaelG who sent in the tip and screenshots below!
First, Disney is now displaying the current boarding group status. This is a functionality that was included in the app before the park closures in mid-March, but was removed with the “new” virtual queue. Guests are now able to see both the current estimated time remaining until their boarding group will be called and the current boarding groups being called back.
The second change is an interesting one, that gives guests an “Entry Code” that displays a MaxPass-like ticket that has a barcode for Cast Members to scan. This would likely be used as another option to other scannable media such as a MagicBand or card. This barcode would be “more contactless” than a MagicBand or card as the Cast Member would be able to scan without actually touching anything.
Both of these changes are steps in the right direction! Now, if only we could actually make the process a bit easier for guests…

That bar code does not show up on everyone’s MDE app. My daughter and I rode it today, and that display was not there. We do have magic bands.
