Phased Reopening of Disneyland Will Take “Another Year”

In a report from the OC Register, Disneyland President Ken Potrock says that the resort is more than 50% reopened, but that it will take another year until the phased reopening is complete.

While Potrock’s first year on the job largely dealt with a closed Disneyland thanks to strict state mandates, he has started to rebuild and says that the resort just passed the halfway point of its phased reopening.

Disneyland went from employing roughly 32,000 people to just 2,000 during the pandemic. Since then, Disneyland has rehired 28,000 people to bring their total workforce up to 30,000 Cast Members at present. Of those 30,000 Cast Members, about 1/3rd are first-time Cast Members after some furloughed individuals did not, or could not, return.

Disneyland is approaching the one-year anniversary of its post-pandemic reopening.
