While visiting EPCOT recently, we noticed that crews continued to make some good progress on the CommuniCore Hall structure in World Celebration. As a reminder, CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana are both scheduled to be open in late 2023 as Disney aims to complete a multi-year project that has seen a significant portion of the former Future World section of the park behind construction walls.
Here’s a look at the progress this weekend, including the first themed column, which you can see is white instead of the standard, unthemed steel that makes up most of the structure.
A closer look at the white column looks like it could be the column seen behind the singer in the concept art below, or a column that would be in the general area of the CommuniCore Hall festival stage.
The CommuniCore Hall multi-purpose building replaces the World Celebration Festival Center, which was budget cut during the theme park closures in March 2020. CommuniCore Hall will be home to a festival stage, meet & greets, a demonstration kitchen, a mixology bar, and serve as a festival support center. It is expected to open in late 2023.
Here’s a look at concept art for the building, which will sit in the southwest corner of World Celebration.
