In an earnings call this afternoon, Disney CFO Christine McCarthy talked about attendance at the domestic Disney theme parks. McCarthy noted that while Disney held back capacity during peak holiday times in late 2022, attendance at the Disney World and Disneyland theme parks this year is outpacing attendance from last year. Here’s the announcement:
…significant revenue and operating income growth in the quarter was achieved despite purposefully reducing capacity during select peak holiday periods by approximately 20% versus pre-pandemic levels in order to prioritized the guest experience.
Per capita guest spending our domestic parks also showed strong growth. Quarter to date park attendance at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland resort are pacing above prior year. And based on reservation bookings, we expect to see this trend continue.
