While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, we noticed that there was a change within the Walt Disney Presents exhibit. If you’ve never been, Walt Disney Presents is a museum-style location within Hollywood Studios that presents the life of Walt Disney via historical exhibits of his life and the theme parks he inspired and a short documentary. There are also rotating displays of the latest Disney films, and a chance to meet with The Little Mermaid.
When we visited, some of the scale theme park models were in different locations than we were used to seeing them in. As it turns out, Walt Disney World is in the process of replacing the carpet, which required the models to be moved. Here’s a look!
Carpet Replacement Project at Walt Disney Presents
The Walt Disney Presents exhibit remains open to guests as the work takes place overnight. You may recall that Walt Disney World had scheduled a closure of Walt Disney Presents for refurbishment back in February 2024, but ended up canceling the refurbishment. Instead, the work has been done in a piecemeal fashion, with the Walt Disney Theater closing for two months last year, and now the common area carpet being replaced.
If you look closely, you’ll be able to see which carpet has been replaced, and what is still awaiting replacement. As a hint, some of the model display cases used to be on the left side and center of the room in the photo below. We’ll take a closer look in a minute. For now, here are some wide shots of the area during our recent visit.
As you can see, the design remains the same, but the new carpet on the left of the image below is a bit more vibrant and certainly less worn than the old carpet on the right. It’s a bit interesting that Disney kept the same design unless they either a) don’t plan on replacing the entire space, or b) had enough of the old design lying around.
