Heat Advisory Continues for Walt Disney World Area, Near Record Highs Expected

|

The heatwave continues for Walt Disney World and the Central Florida area. Just yesterday, Tampa set a record high temperature, and Orlando is forecast to get very close to a nearly 90-year-old record this afternoon. Here’s the latest from the National Weather Service and what you need to know if you’re visiting the theme parks.

Near Record Heat for Walt Disney World

A heat advisory is in effect again today for Walt Disney World and Central Florida. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) out of Melbourne, heat indices “feels like” temperatures will climb to near 112° today. Beyond the “feels like” temperatures, thermometer temperatures will also be extremely high today. The NWS is forecasting that multiple Central Florida locations will get close to their all-time record highs. Orlando is currently forecast to reach 100°, just 1° shy of the high temperature for this date set back in 1936.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Keep in mind that Disney World offers complimentary ice water at quick service locations. When visiting the parks, we make sure to stop at least once per hour to hydrate and cool down with some air conditioning. It will be imperative to stay hydrated and take breaks during a visit to Walt Disney World this summer.
