Pop Eats! – 2020 Epcot Festival of the Arts Review

Welcome to a 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts review! Our favorite Epcot festival of the year is upon us and that means that it’s time to eat and drink our way around World Showcase while celebrating the culinary, performing, and visual arts. The 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts runs from January 17 – February 24, 2020 and doesn’t cost extra to attend (food and drink are an additional cost). Scattered throughout Epcot are “Food Studios”, which showcase culinary delights according to a specific theme. Food Studios open at 11am unless otherwise noted. Please enjoy our Pop Eats! Food Studio review from the 2020 Epcot Festival of the Arts!

NEW Sous Vide Chicken Roulade – $6.75

Served with Apples and Sage served with Warm Brie Fondue, Blueberry and Beet Gel and garnished with Beet Chip Crumbles

New for 2020 is a chicken dish that wholly underwhelms. The unfortunate thing about this dish is just how dry the chicken is. While we enjoyed some of the sauces, there simply wasn’t enough sauce to go around to try and save the chicken. The skin was nicely cooked and flavored, but the chicken meat was off. If Disney can get the chicken right, we would like to try this again, but in the meantime, we can’t recommend it.

    Shrimp Ceviche – $6.00

    Served with Lime Mint Foam

We loved this dish! It’s loaded with shrimp with some heat. In it, you’ll find red and green peppers along with onion. This, combined with the lime mint foam, gives you an impressive amount of flavor in each bite.

    Almond Frangipane Cake – $4.50

Layered with Raspberry Jam and Belgian Chocolate

This cake is probably what you’re looking forward to the most based on preview pictures of the festival. Unfortunately, it didn’t hit the mark for us. It was a lot more chewy than we had expected and the flavor was a bit varied. There was some jam in between the layers and the chocolate frosting was nice, but the bites in between just didn’t do it. It’s nothing like the sponge cake texture we had expected from simply looking at photos.

    Pop’t Art – $4.50

Modern-design Sugar Cookie with Strawberry Filling

Don’t call it a Pop-Tart, it’s pop’t art! Similar to a pop-tart in look, this version doesn’t have a filled center, but rather an enjoyable frosting layer on top. Let’s be honest, you’re buying this for the name and a quick picture, but it’s also a nice treat.

NEW Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary – $14.00

Also new this year is this fun Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary. It’s probably the smallest $14 Bloody Mary you’ll ever have, but it hits the right notes of spice to legitimize its existence. Also, how can you say no to this amazing plastic soup can souvenir it’s served in? The design is a simple wrap, but it’s a fun souvenir that just might be worth the $14…maybe.

    #RainbowSherbetGlitterDreamAle – $4.50

Offered by Playalinda Brewing Co. out of nearby Titusville, FL, the RainbowSherbetGlitterDreamAle is not only the single festival offering with its own hashtag, it’s also a pretty good ale! And yes, there is glitter!

    Popping Bubbles Cocktail – $10.50

We love this cocktail. It’s fun and flavorful, pretty much everything a drink at Disney should be. Cranberries are presented using a technique called Spherification, that is, making the juice into small little balls that pop with flavor when you bite them. You’re given a straw wide enough in circumference to suck the balls up along with plenty of champagne.

    Beverages:

    • Blue Sky Black Cherry Boba Freeze (non-alcoholic) (KA)
    • #RainbowSherbetGlitterDreamAle by Playalinda Brewing Co., Titusville, FL
    • Popping Bubbles Cocktail
    • Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary

With the exception of some dry chicken and a cake that might hit your tongue differently than mine, Pop Eats! is a wonderful booth to stop at. Some unique festival offerings make this a must-do for us every year and this year is no different.

    1. ” The Walt Disney Company said that all plastic straws and stirrers will be gone by the middle of 2019, according to WFTV9.”

BUT we will give you a real big straw if you spend $14 because the Disney Company dissolves there virtuous morality signaling when there is $14 at stake.
They really think we are fools.
