The Artist’s Table – 2020 Epcot Festival of the Arts Review

Welcome to a 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts review! Our favorite Epcot festival of the year is upon us and that means that it’s time to eat and drink our way around World Showcase while celebrating the culinary, performing, and visual arts. The 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts runs from January 17 – February 24, 2020 and doesn’t cost extra to attend (food and drink are an additional cost). Scattered throughout Epcot are “Food Studios”, which showcase culinary delights according to a specific theme. Food Studios open at 11am unless otherwise noted. Please enjoy our The Artist’s Table Food Studio review from the 2020 Epcot Festival of the Arts!

    Beef Wellington – $8.25

Served with Mushroom Bordelaise, Fennel Cream, and Roasted Baby Vegetables

Of the two dishes available at The Artist’s Table, this was the one that disappointed. As you can see in the cross section photo beef wasn’t nearly tender enough, almost like a hamburger in texture. The pastry was wonderful, but the beef was so overcooked that the whole dish lost integrity. Our recommendation is to pass on this dish and opt for the scallop below.

    Pan-Seared Scallop – $7.00

Served with Chorizo, Roasted Red Pepper Coulis and a Parmesan Crisp

A well cooked, two-bite scallop is paired with a little bit of kick in the Roasted Red Pepper Coulis. Don’t let that scare you away though. We found ourselves with extra sauce after the small portion of scallop, but the sauce was so good we just scooped it up with the parmesan crisp.

    Artist Palette Jumbo Chocolate-Chip Cookie – $5.50

When they say jumbo, they mean JUMBO. This cookie can easily feed four. Naturally, we split it between two of us and ate it early on in our culinary tour around World Showcase. This meant that we were properly full 5 minutes into our walk and had to pace ourselves the rest of the way. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of the cookie. It only very slightly varied from crispy on the edges to soft in the center. It was also well prepared, like most foods, by the chef with care being put into placing the liquid colors.

    Beverages:

    • Sipping Chocolate Flight: White, Milk and Dark (non-alcoholic)
    • Saugatuck Brewing Co. Neapolitan Milk Stout, Douglas, MI
    • Lexington Brewing Company Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale, Lexington, KY
    • Lindemans Framboise Lambic, Belgium
    • Barrymore Rosé, Monterey County, CA
    • Carmel Road Drew’s Blend Pinot Noir, Monterey County, CA
    • Symphony in Chocolate Flight: Mozart Cream Liqueurs paired with Sipping Chocolates
    • Chocolate and Beer Pairing Flight

With a lackluster Beef Wellington, we’re not sure there is enough offered here to justify a stop. You might want to just grab the PB&J Funnel Cake from the World Showcase promenade and move along, more on that in a bit!
