Voyage of the Little Mermaid Billboard Removed, Rumored to Close Permanently

As we first told you weeks ago, Voyage of the Little Mermaid is rumored to close permanently. The show did not reopen with Disney’s Hollywood Studios after the COVID-19 closures, and sources indicated to us that it was permanently closed.

Disney has not commented on the status of the show, but they have recently removed the billboard that used to feature the attraction logo as well as some characters from the animated film. Here’s a look back at the billboard as it stood recently.

And here’s a look at the area as it exists today.

It doesn’t look like a tremendous amount of care was taken in removing the sign from the wooden frame. It looks like some wood may have come down with it.

The outdoor queue still has stills from the movie for now.

The removal of the billboard, while not an official statement, could indicate that our rumor was correct and that the show has closed permanently. As with any rumor, you should treat our information as unofficial unless and until Disney confirms it.

As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com as we continue to bring you the latest news, photos, and info from around the Disney Parks!

  1. Is nothing sacred anymore at Disney World? I will be soooo upset if the Train doesn’t come back at Magic Kingdom. Walt loved his trains and now some Big Wig in Disney Corp. decides to discontinue it???? Magic Kingdom is the one place especially for children and they love trains. So whoever is in charge of giving and taking away rides…..PLEASE bring back the Train!

  2. The train is supposed to return. It had to be shut down temporarily because it went through the Tron construction site. They are taking this opportunity to refurbish/replace the entire train track.

  3. Re-themed rides are proven to be a waste of money. Why would you re theme and not just do an entire re-do? The frozen ride is lame at best…I was expecting eye candy instead it’s like entering a room of puppets. Slow, hot, and old, the original Norway ride was better.
