More Barges Arrive at EPCOT for New ‘Luminous’ Nighttime Spectacular

Even more barges have arrived ahead of the early December debut of Luminous – The Symphony of Us at EPCOT. Friend of the site bioreconstruct has taken to the skies over Walt Disney World to provide the internet with a sneak peek at the infrastructure that Disney has built for the new show.

Unlike Harmonious which had a permanently moored armada, Luminous will utilize movable barges to preserve daytime views of World Showcase Lagoon while providing a compelling suite of technology once the sun sets.

As you can see, work continues in both backstage areas as well as on World Showcase Lagoon to support the new show, which will debut on December 5th. There is still a decent amount of work left, but testing should commence soon as crews complete construction and the next phase of the project can begin.

First, here’s a look at the crowded backstage marina as a total of 6 barges are now in the water. Crews are outfitting the barges with tech that will support pyrotechnics and lighting. It’s also likely that water effects will be supported.

Out on World Showcase Lagoon, crews are still working on completing infrastructure to support the hardware. While there were some rumors that the show would’ve debuted by now or soon, there is very obviously still a bit of construction that needs to be completed.
