Polynesian Village Island Tower DVC Update: New Milestone for Room Construction & More Painting

    Published:

Recently, we took the watercraft from Magic Kingdom over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a look at the Island Tower Disney Vacation Club construction. The Island Tower is scheduled to open in December, and DVC Members will get a first shot at reservations starting June 4th, followed by Annual Passholders on June 5th. We’ve got a big update today, with more than 40 photos of the latest progress, so let’s dive in!

Island Tower Construction Update | Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

We’ll start with a look at the latest exterior concept art compared to as close as a similar angle of the construction as possible. Work is progressing nicely, with a lot of scaffolding removed from the main section of the tower.

Ok, with that comparison out of the way, let’s head back to the Seven Seas Lagoon, as we enjoy the watercraft ride from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort over to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. In this first photo below, we can see how the tower stacks up compared to other longhouses nearby. Note that the Wedding Pavilion is closer in the foreground than it may appear, making it a bit taller than it actually is from this perspective.

Here’s a more zoomed-in shot from roughly the same angle.

As we turn the corner, we have a better look at the Island Tower in the morning light from Seven Seas Lagoon.

From what we can tell, construction is progressing from the top floors, down to the ground level, and from the northern wing of the tower toward the south. To that end, we see more of the finishing elements in the photo below, including the decor at the top of the tower.

Perhaps the biggest portion of this update is that a number of rooms have started to receive drywall installation. In the photo below, we can see interior door frames and drywall. It also looks like some elements such as cabinets or the like may be staged in these rooms, ready for installation.

Continuing on, we’ll take a look at other portions of the tower, including many rooms that are still in the construction stage with no drywall and visible studs and plumbing/electrical.

Back to some wider views, we have a few photos that try to paint some sort of scale of the Island Tower as it relates to the existing longhouses.

Changing our perspective, we can see into the pool area under construction, as seen from the Fiji building. We’ll get a better vantage point from the Tuvalu building in a minute, but here’s the view from Fiji for now of the pool and open-air bar area in the distance.

Finally, here’s the vantage point from Tuvalu, overlooking the pool and Island Tower.

Here’s a look at what we believe will be an open-air bar area.

And here’s an overview of the Island Tower.
