Today is the first day of the 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and while we’ll have a ton of content coming your way over the next few weeks, one thing stuck out today (more than CommuniCore Hall), and that was the Carolina Reaper wings.
Unnecessarily Spicy Yet Extremely Tasty Carolina Reaper Pepper Curry Wings | $7.75
At the Brew-Wing Labs, they certainly have something brew-wing this year with all-new Carolina Reaper wings. The official title, which is Muppets inspired, is the Unnecessarily Spicy Yet Extremely Tasty Carolina Reaper Pepper Curry Wings. It should also be noted that the wings come with a decent-sized helping of creamy cucumber raita, but as we would find out, it wouldn’t much matter.
The Carolina Reaper wings are the only new food item on the menu, and we would be shocked if they made it to the end of the 12-week festival. These are, without a doubt, the spiciest wings I’ve ever had at Walt Disney World, and the spiciest dish as well. It’s amazing that they exist in a theme park, and they will certainly be a hot-ticket item for influencers and regular guests trying to challenge themselves in the coming weeks if they keep the punch that they had today.
To be clear, I like spicy food, but this was on another level. I’ve done the Hot Ones dipping sauce challenge, and there are certainly spicier sauces available to the general public, but nothing spicier currently exists at Walt Disney World.
The Carolina Reaper name carries a lot of weight when discussing peppers, and it should be a warning to the average guest wandering into The Odyssey Pavilion looking for some standard chicken wings. The wings themselves weren’t excessively hot, but they were tossed in a yellowish curry sauce that I didn’t capture on camera very well – however, it was the sauce that made the wings essentially unenjoyable from a spiciness perspective.
The wings couldn’t have come at a better time, with Donald Duck just being featured on the Hot Ones talk show. This screenshot essentially summed up our experience today with the Carolina Reaper wings at the Brew-Wing Lab.
Everyone’s taste differs, and Disney World may change up the offering in the days and weeks ahead, but for now, buyer beware. Or, perhaps you can buy the wings just to give them a try and see who in your group might enjoy the spiciest wings at Walt Disney World.
