While visiting Disney’s BoardWalk recently to check in on The Cake Bake Shop (new sign) and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs (nearly ready to open), we also noticed some extensive work taking place on a portion of the BoardWalk Villas facade. The facade in question is the Crest O’ The Wave section closest to the Jellyrolls dueling piano bar.
Before we take a look at the exterior refurbishment, here’s a look back at the facade from October 2022.
Back to our recent visit, here’s a wide view of the Villas section of the resort, with the Swan hotel in the background, and the Reserve off to the right, beyond Jellyrolls. As you can see, the entire Crest O’ The Wave section is behind scaffolding as crews perform a rather extensive refurbishment on the exterior of the resort.
We’ll zoom in a bit to get a better look at the work taking place before walking to the front of the building.
As you can see in the photo above, it looks like crews are working from the top of the building down to the lower floors. The very top of the facade has been refreshed and repainted in a memorable light blue color, with other portions of the facade still under construction. Let’s walk a bit closer to see what work is being done.
A closer look shows that crews are re-paneling the exterior of the facade, and repainting. The hope here is that anything other than the light blue is a base coat of sorts.
Before we take an even closer look, here’s a zoomed-in shot of the various stages of work back from across the lake. Notably, the case styling has changed from a capital “O” to a lower-case “O”, and “the” is now in all lower-case letters, as Walt intended.
To wrap up, here’s a closer look at the re-siding going on for the exterior of the building.
