“Mobile Order” coming to the My Disney Experience app for quick-service and fast-casual restaurants
UPDATE – An icon for Mobile Order has been added to the latest version of My Disney Experience on Android. As of right now, the link function or open any additional pages in the app.
In the recent Disney Parks Blog post about the menu coming to the Satu’li Canteen, they dropped a bit of info about a new system called “Mobile Order”. Mobile Order will be a new option to order and pay for meals on-the-go, completely within the My Disney Experience app.
Using the app, guests can select menu items, customize their order and pre-pay for their meal. When they arrive at the restaurant they will tap an “I’m here” button in the app, which will notify the kitchen to prepare the meal. When ready, guests will be alerted through the app to pick up their meal at a designated window.
Mobile Order will be available for same-day orders during most meal periods at locations that offer the service. If a location’s menu changes with meal periods, the available menu options will also change in
Mobile Order. As a location’s meal period nears completion, a notification will remind any Guests with outstanding orders that they must pick up their order prior to the end of any dining period.
At this time, the only payment accepted is credit card. Guests may choose to use either their My Disney Experience on-file credit card or another one-time use credit card at the time of purchase.
The Satu’li Canteen will be the first “fast-casual” restaurant to offer Mobile Order on property, but more restaurants will adopt the new system later this year.
A similar concept, called Express Order, was tested at Backlot Express and Fantasmic in Hollywood Studios back in 2015.
