Generic Pavement Replacing Themed “Gears” in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom

Disney has started to replace some pavement in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom as a refresh of the entire land continues. Disney has been slowly trying to get rid of the 1994 look throughout the land, instead opting for a minimalist look instead. As you can see in the photos below, Disney has begun to replace the themed pavement in the main thoroughfare of the land with what appears to be a generic, unthemed pavement. Of course, it’s possible that this a temporary step between the 1994 look and a new look.

First, here’s a look back at the entrance pavement theming from 3000ft above Tomorrowland. You can see that the vast majority of Tomorrowland has generic pavement, whereas the entrance still had some theming.

Now, here’s a look at the area from within Tomorrowland this morning. As you can see, the majority of the theming is still in place, but will be replaced in the coming weeks.

Here’s an elevated look at the work and remaining walkway from on board the Tomorrowland PeopleMover.
