New Views of TRON Lightcycle Run from Walt Disney World Railroad

With the reopening of the Walt Disney World Railroad, guests now have new views of the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster from onboard the train. When Disney first announced the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, the plan was for the train to pass under the canopy, but in plain sight. Here’s a look at the initial concept art for the roller coaster and surrounding area.

The plan was simplified, and a tunnel was introduced for the train in the following concept art.

With the introduction of the tunnel came questions on how Disney would theme the tunnel, if at all.

As work began, we kept an eye on the progress to see if Disney would turn the tunnel into a show scene, or if it would simply function as a tunnel.

As work progressed, the only thing of note was the construction of a few windows, as seen below.

As testing began, we noticed that there was some onboard audio referencing TRON, but we were eager to see if there was any sort of work done in the tunnel.

As it turns out, Disney took the same approach to TRON as they did with the Splash Mountain portion of the railroad. That is, they provided a window into the attraction. Unfortunately, the views of TRON are not as great as the view down into the finale scene of Splash Mountain, but we recently took a ride around the Walt Disney World Railroad to give you a glimpse of what to expect when you visit Magic Kingdom.

TRON Lightcycle Run is still undergoing testing, mostly with dummies as seen below.
