It’s early days for the new price structure change for the Disney Genie+ skip-the-line service at Walt Disney World, and we’re already seeing Disney tinker a bit with the per-park pricing. Today, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have slight price cuts, but there has been no change for Animal Kingdom or EPCOT. Here’s a look at pricing yesterday compared to pricing today.
Utilization of Genie+ at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios appeared to be slightly elevated vs the day before the June 27th price change, so today’s drop in price can’t be easily explained away as being “too high” for guests. Genie+ utilization patterns at Animal Kingdom and EPCOT were also elevated, but more on that in a separate article.
It’s likely that we’ll continue to see Disney change the price weekly, if not daily, as they attempt to maximize profits while balancing the guest experience. One of the things we would like to see from Disney is a clearer picture on Genie+ pricing for future dates. If Genie+ is going to follow the same model as ticket pricing at the theme parks, we think that the pricing should be displayed ahead of time just like the theme park tickets to allow guests to plan for their vacation better.
Until then, we expect to see Animal Kingdom and EPCOT remain at “lower” prices, while Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios remain the expensive theme parks.
