A very limited-time test of entertainment at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is taking place, which sees the Discovery Island Drummers outside of the park entrance around rope drop. The 3-day test concludes tomorrow (October 19th), but we hope that they’re able to find a spot for the drummers on dry land after they have been floating around the rivers of Disney’s Animal Kingdom for years. Showtimes were at 7:30am and 8:30am this morning before the entertainment group heads inside the park for their daily flotilla appearances.

We’re actually fans of this type of entertainment that invites you to enjoy at your own pace. Unlike a proper show that requires some amount of planning and might take a chunk of time out of your day, the Discovery Island Drummers simply invite you to dance your way to rope drop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, sprinkling in some classic Disney tunes. Because guests are focused on getting into the park to try and rope drop Flight of Passage or another headliner, the performance doesn’t draw too much of a crowd. We saw families stop to enjoy a tune that they recognized and even saw a dad or two dancing while pushing a stroller to the main entrance.
