Report: Disney Board Focusing on Division Heads to Replace Iger as CEO

A report from Bloomberg suggests that the search for Disney’s next CEO has been narrowed down to internal candidates, specifically the four division heads. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. Back in November 2022, just weeks after Iger returned, the New York Times produced two names in the hunt for the next CEO, both internal candidates and both division heads.

The New York Times piece suggested that Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Disney General Entertainment Chairman Dana Walden were on a shortlist. While that may have been true at the time, Iger ended up extending his contract through 2026, giving the Board more time to find the right fit.

The Bloomberg piece says that Iger is spending time with the four division heads to help them understand how he operates, and to give them more experience outside of their immediate responsibilities. The four candidates are:

Here’s a slightly deeper dive on each of the candidates.
